Modica, enlightened by the sun, preserves the typical aspect of a baroque town, with its churches inserted in the houses made of stone whcih covers the hills like a Christmas crib.
The site where the town is, has been inhabited since prehistory, then conquered by the Arabs and the Aragoneses.
Badly damaged during the earthquake in 1693, it was rebuilt on ther same site and enriched with baroque religious buildings.
